Nearly 40 years after Hillman first expanded our imagination of Black possibility, A Different World is back. But this generation isn’t starting from zero—and that may be the most interesting story of all.

For ambitious Black women, building a good life can become such a consuming project that enjoying it gets postponed indefinitely.

You’ve already proven how much you can carry. Perhaps the next expression of wealth is deciding how much you no longer have to.

You know how to survive. But what happens when you’re ready to expand? What happens when the question is no longer, How do I make enough? but instead: How much life am I actually willing to have? That is a different conversation. And it’s one Black women deserve to have.

Black women know how to make a way. We know how to survive. But survival was never supposed to be the final destination. At some point, we get to stop asking, "How do I make this work?" And start asking: "How do I build a life that works for me?"
